Thank you

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments, e-mails, and messages of condolence for me and my family. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and friendship.

I have to share something really touching that happened at the burial.

One of my cousins - the oldest of the granddaughters - had a flower arrangement at the funeral. I didn't get a very good look at it because I was so busy talking to family members I'd not seen in years. (What a shame that the only time we get together is when somebody dies.)

In the wreath, my cousin had tucked some flower doilies that Granny had crocheted. There were seven doilies, to be exact: one for each of us granddaughters.

After the burial service, my cousin took the doilies from the wreath and handed them out to each of us. That one last gift from Granny... it was precious and heartbreaking all at the same time. Even my husband was in tears.

Afterward, we all went back to Granny's house. I guess that's the last time all of us will gather there.

  1. The doilies were such a sweet touch. I'm glad your cousin was inspired to do it.
