They're putting up SPEED CAMERAS as well as red light cameras. Twice the chance to separate you and your money (what little of it there is left, that is).
The city plans to install four cameras. Two will be used to enforce speed limits and two will be able to spot drivers who run red lights, as well as those who drive too fast.Ahem.
The two speed-enforcement cameras will be put up next to the Oak Ridge Turnpike in front of Oak Ridge High School and on Robertsville Road in the Willow Brook Elementary School zone, Police Chief David Beams said.
Meanwhile, the other two combination cameras, capable of enforcing speed limits and red light ordinances, will be installed at the intersections of Illinois Avenue and Robertsville Road, and Lafayette Drive and Oak Ridge Turnpike, he said.
At one time, Oak Ridge officials had talked about using a mobile camera also, but [City Manager Jim] O'Connor said they will not be doing that for now.
Allow me to introduce you to a couple of worthwhile websites.
First, is HighwayRobbery.net It has a treasure trove of information about defects and problems with red light and speed cameras as well as various ways Redflex and other such companies attempt to
I highly suggest you familiarize yourself with the info on that website, especially with regard to "snitch" tickets.
Second, allow me to present to you PhotoBlocker Spray. Spray this clear "paint" on your license plate and it'll only show up as a bright white flash in camera photos. It's legal and it works.
Click here for consumer testing and news videos with PhotoBlocker Spray in action.
Look especially at the News 5 investigation in Mesa, AZ concerning "safety" cameras versus "revenue" cameras. http://www.photoblocker.com/www/news5.swf
... and be prepared to fight for your rights. Big Brother, my friends, is here.
These cameras are lame.

I think we are all on the same page here, the camera's are for profit and not for safety. The only way to fix the camera problem is to vote against the city council members that voted yes for the cameras. The vote was four to three, the four that voted for the cameras in oak ridge are as followed: Tom Beehan, Jane Miller, Tom Hayes, and Charlie Hensley. I am not telling you who to vote for I am just saying if you don't like the cameras don't vote for them for city council, on JUNE 2. Please get out and VOTE to send them a message and fix this problem.
